The Risk of China’s Urbanization and Governance Transformation

[Abstract]From the experience of world urbanization,urbanization is one of the important thrusts to reconstruct the social order. Because of long time span of urbanization,developed countries can adopt better governance policies to defuse the crisis in the process of urbanization.However,the lack of opportunities and conditions in developing countries makes the urbanization faced with great uncertainty. From the perspectives of historical and practical theories,due to highly compression of time, executive-led process, and extremely complex in content demension, Chinas urbanization faces many risks,such as the expansion of the gap between urban and rural areas, the less driving force of marketization, and social conflicts caused by rapid urbanization. These challenges require our country to transform the urban governance, strengthen market-driven mechanism, improve the citys public service system, and pay more attention from institutional innovation to resolve the various types of risks in the process of urbanization.
